SINGER 1/4 Inch Piecing Presser Foot | Ensures Precision Seam Allowances for Quilting, Crafting & Apparel Making | Compatible with Low-Shank Sewing Machines

  • The SINGER 1/4 Inch Piecing Presser Foot makes it simple to achieve precise 14″ seam allowances with precision quilting. It is ideal for quilting projects because it ensures precise alignment when piecing quilt tops and other smaller sewing projects like making clothes for dolls and babies.
  • RED GUIDE LINES FOR PERFECT CORNERS: Navigate corners like a pro!  Because the foot has red guide lines that make it easy to pivot and sew perfect corners, it’s a must-have tool for intricate and detailed sewing.
  • DESIGN FOR STRAIGHT STITCH CENTER NEEDLES: The foot’s small opening perfectly matches the position of the center needle for straight stitches. The stitch width control can be used to adjust the needle for a more comfortable sewing experience without harming the foot.
  • MULTI-PURPOSE HORIZONTAL MARKINGS: For seamless pivoting and various seam allowances, make use of the horizontal guidelines. The markings include 1/4”, 3/8”, and 1/2” guides, providing versatility for a range of fabric-turning and stitching techniques.
  • EFFICIENT ALIGNMENT AND CONTROL OF THE FABRIC: The right edge of the foot serves as a clear alignment guide for the raw edges of the fabric, resulting in consistent seam lines. Secure thread tails before starting for smooth, tangle-free sewing from the first stitch to the last.

The Quarter Inch Piecing Presser Foot is used for quilting ¼” seam allowances, a must-have for piecing quilt tops!  It can be used to make baby and doll clothes and other small projects with narrow seam allowances. You can learn to make perfect turns with the foot’s red guide lines! Use only a straight stitch with this presser foot and make sure to turn the hand wheel toward you prior to sewing to ensure that the needle clears the foot’s opening.

 Instructions

Make sure the center needle position on your sewing machine is set to straight stitch. As you slowly turn the handwheel toward you, check to see if the needle goes through the foot’s small opening. Use the stitch width control to move the needle until it aligns with the foot’s hole without hitting the foot if it does not clear the small opening. For a precise 1/4-inch seamline, place your fabric under the presser foot and align the fabric’s raw edge with the presser foot’s right side. Hold the thread tails at the back of the foot as you begin sewing to keep them secure and prevent thread tangling. Pivoting

The foot has horizontal markings for multi-purpose uses in sewing.  When pivoting at a seamline corner with a 1/4-inch seam allowance, the horizontal marking closest to the front serves as a guide. Sew your seam up to the corner, stopping when the edge of the fabric meets the 1/4-inch horizontal guideline, and then pivot using the guideline at the front. Then, put the needle down in the fabric.  Sew the remaining seam by turning the fabric and aligning the raw edge of the fabric with the righthand edge of the presser foot while the needle is still in the fabric. After lowering the presser foot, go ahead and sew a 1/4-inch seam. Additionally, pivoting can be accomplished using the remaining two horizontal markings. For a seam measuring 3/8 inch, use the horizontal mark in the middle, while for a seam measuring 1/2 inch, use the horizontal mark closest to the needle opening.
